Introduction
Fireclay insulating brick (also called insulation fireclay brick) is a kind of high-temperature insulating refractory material. It is made of refractory clay chamotte as raw material, plastic clay as binder, appropriate amount of combustible or foaming agent added, and then sintered by brick press. Fireclay insulating bricks are generally used as thermal insulation materials for various high-temperature kilns.
Fireclay insulating brick is also called lightweight insulating brick. Its weight is light, the specific gravity varies from 0.6 to 1.2, and there are tiny pores evenly distributed inside. Moreover, the light clay brick is fast in heating and cooling, and is suitable for use in the temperature range of 900 ℃~1200 ℃.
Characteristics of Fireclay Insulating Brick
- Firelay thermal insulating brick has the characteristics of high porosity, low bulk density and good thermal insulation performance. It is widely used in various industrial kilns to reduce the heat loss of kilns and obtain high energy utilization efficiency.
- Fireclay brick is characterized by low thermal conductivity and good thermal insulation effect.
- Low heat melting, little heat energy accumulation, very good energy-saving effect in intermittent operation.
- Fireclay insulating brick can still maintain good performance under reducing atmosphere.
- Clay insulating bricks used in the thermal insulation layer of industrial kilns can reduce the heat loss of kilns, save energy consumption, and reduce the weight of thermal equipment.
- At present, most of the high-temperature resistant materials used in kilns use heavy refractory bricks as the masonry materials, and fireclay insulating bricks can reduce the weight by about one time. The advantage of this is to save the cost of kiln construction and raw materials.
- However, the fireclay insulating brick has poor mechanical strength, abrasion resistance and slag erosion resistance. It can not be used in the load-bearing structure of the kiln or directly as the working layer, and is widely used for thermal insulation purposes.
- Moreover, the fireclay insulating brick has good processability, convenient and simple construction, and can reduce the labor intensity of workers.
Physical and Chemical Parameters of Fireclay Insulating Brick
Fireclay Insulating Brick is mainly divided into different grade based on the bulk density:
